Position Title: Materials Specialist
This position is responsible for coordinating materials and machining in the required process sequence to meet customer delivery expectations.

This position is responsible for coordinating materials and machining in the required process sequence to meet customer delivery expectations. The position is hourly, non-exempt and reports to the Materials Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expedite individual components through processing to meet scheduling requirements.
- Coordinate set-ups with the group leader to ensure efficient utilization of equipment.
- Monitor in process routings using the computer system.
- Issue component manufacturing routings to the shop floor.
- Help with inventory cycle counts and make inventory adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate the movement of materials from receiving to the appropriate bin location as well as from operation to operation.
- Prioritize machining schedules based on requirements.
- Follow-up with purchasing to ensure the timely delivery of materials and to address any material delivery concerns.
- Communicate with and coordinate manufacturing activities with the manufacturing manager and materials supervisor to facilitate efficient material flow throughout the facility.
- Participate in the weekly schedule review to monitor order progression.
- Coordinate and respond to all expedited order requests in a timely manner.
- Evaluate material availability to support machine schedules.
- Support Materials Analyst as needed in maintaining work in process order completions/partial closings.
- Maintain shop order due dates as requirements change.
- Communicate all scheduling/manufacturing interruptions.
- Maintain upcoming week orders components completion and flow.
- Issue all sub build jobs to assembly.
- Evaluate and maintain stock on General Dynamics and other similar customers.
- Tow Motor Duties outside of general material flows.
- Maintain compliance with company policy, safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- (2) year technical or related degree preferred.
- (2) yrs. of experience in a manufacturing environment required
- (1) yr. inventory control preferred.
- Experience using a Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) software preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of materials and processes required.
- Basic computer skills including Google Sheets required.
- Strong interest and skill in math
- Advanced computer skills preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
