Summary
This position assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. The position is Salaried, Exempt and reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for purchasing from approved sources production and non-production material used in the division operations.
- Responsible for actively negotiating cost savings on materials per company policy.
- Responsible for purchasing competitively priced, approved, production and non-production materials.
- Monitor and evaluate shortage report.
- Generate and adjust purchase orders as required.
- Analyze cost details to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with resolving purchasing related problems or concerns relating to price, delivery or quality.
- Maintain an open, effective line of communication with assigned suppliers.
- Responsible for coordinating follow-ups and expediting efforts to ensure materials are available to meet manufacturing schedules.
- Assist in evaluating possibilities of quantity purchasing, as justified, with competitive pricing.
- When feasible, recommend potential alternatives to engineering, to meet customer specifications.
- Distribute purchase orders.
- Assist in maintaining detailed and organized supplier files.
- Assist in cost reduction programs.
- Remain in compliance with all ISO standard purchasing requirements and documents.
- Perform special projects and assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain preferred.
- 2 years in a purchasing environment.
- Effective computer and organizational skills.
- Requires strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
